The craftsman who listens to wood

Pierre Scanavino

In Au Coeur du Village***** – Relais & Châteaux, Peter Pan is not a fairy tale character, but a woodworker, a craftsman who interacts with the material as if it were a companion. From his workshop nestled in the foothills of the Chartreuse mountains, he shapes and transforms wood with a deep passion, combining traditional craftsmanship with creativity inspired by the nature that surrounds him.

For him, wood is alive: he recovers it, listens to it, respects it and lets it guide his hands. His work tells the story of the curves of trees, memories of forests, and the intimate connection between humans and materials. A wood turner, sculptor and creator, he crafts unique pieces, decorative and functional objects that capture the spirit of wood in all its richness.

This season, Peter Pan has designed an original piece for the breakfast area of Le Cœur restaurant: a wooden creation that interacts with the architecture of the space and the morning atmosphere. Like a sculpture that invites movement, this piece tells the story of the poetry of wood, its lines, its textures, its warmth, and transforms the breakfast experience into an artistic moment.

A work that reminds us that wood, when we know how to listen to it, can tell a thousand stories, and that every gesture becomes poetry.

When wood becomes landscape

Bérénice Besnard

Originally from Carpentras, in Provence, Bérénice Besnard found refuge in the Chartreuse Mountains, where she set up her studio. Surrounded by forests and mountains, she lets nature inspire her ideas and guide her hands.

Her world combines wood, drawing, painting and writing, and each creation recounts an intimate encounter with the landscapes that surround her. Her paintings are born from ‘heated’ wood, marked by time and the elements, whose lines and nuances become paths to follow, horizons to explore.

Little by little, under her fingers, landscapes emerge, sometimes delicate, sometimes powerful, which Bérénice completes with drawing, pyrography or ink. Each work is an invitation to lose oneself in nature, to feel its immensity, to experience the gentle and fragile emotion that connects us to it.

A sensitive and poetic approach that transforms wood into a living narrative and makes us want to look, touch, dream… to be discovered at Au Cœur du Village this season.

Art that accompanies everyday life

Emy Dumas

In Au Coeur du Village, Emy has designed a unique mural for the bakery corner, a space where art blends into everyday life from the very first moments of the morning.

This bespoke creation does more than just decorate: it structures the space, guides the eye, accompanies the hand, and transforms every gesture into an artistic experience. The sculpted shelves, volumes and hollows subtly invite themselves into everyday use, without ever imposing themselves.

Emy’s inspiration comes from the surrounding mountains: the ridgelines, reliefs and variations in level can be seen in the composition, both graphically and in the three-dimensional volumes. The circle evokes the sunrise, the beginning of a day lived to the fullest.

Made of ash, a lively and vibrant wood, and in collaboration with Rémy, a basket maker, the work reinterprets the cornucopia, a symbol of generosity and sharing, to hold bread and pastries.

A bespoke, poetic and functional creation that blends into its surroundings while telling its own story. A delicate and original way to start the day at Au Cœur du Village.

Sensitive textures

Nina André

Wood has always been part of Nina André’s life. A living, instinctive material that she has been shaping since childhood and which, over time, has become her language.

Guided by the pleasure of the gesture and a love of curves, Nina first turned to craftsmanship. Today, she is a wood turner and creates tableware for exceptional restaurants. Located in the foothills of the Chartreuse mountains, her workshop is in direct contact with nature, which nourishes her work on a daily basis.

Gradually, her desire to explore the material led her towards a freer form of expression. Her work with textures went beyond objects to take shape in paintings, where wood becomes a surface for exploration and dialogue.

Textures sensibles is a search for movement in stillness, a curve that seems to continue its trajectory despite the flatness of the material. Each trace tells the story of the body in action, the anchoring to the ground, the weight of the tool, and this constant quest for simplicity, fluidity and harmony.

A deeply organic and sensitive work, where wood becomes the reflection of an intimate link between humans and matter, to be discovered at Au Cœur du Village this season.

We invite you to discover these artistic worlds at the opening on 23 February from 6pm at Le Cin5 restaurant, over a glass of champagne and delicious appetisers.

Discover it at the gourmet restaurant Le Cin5 and in the breakfast area of Le Cœur restaurant. ✨
